Phil Ivey Cleans House at FullTiltPoker
May 09, 2008

Phil Ivey joined in a series of high stakes cash games at Full Tilt Poker Sunday, taking on the likes of Tom "durrrr" Dwan, Phil "OMGClayAiken" Galfond and Hac "Trex313" Dang. As the day dwindled, Ivey found himself somewhere between $500,000 and $600,000 richer after wiping the tables clean in high stakes cash games of both Pot Limit Omaha and No Limit Texas Hold'em, earning himself a fairly equal share in both.

The most substantial victory came in a single hand versus Hac "Trex313" Dang in a $500/$1,000 Pot Limit Omaha "Thunderdome" game. Dang prostrated an entire $245k pot in one fell swoop. Ivey pushed all-in in response to Dang's $34k bet. Phil revealed A-A-J-T with a nut flush draw, while Dang showed two top pair and an open-end straight draw. A 4s on the river gave Ivey the higher pair and the $245k win. Dang exited the table immediately after the tremendous loss.

Though none quite compared to the immense size of the single pot described above, Phil Ivey continued to mop the virtual Full Tilt Poker floors, raking in pot after pot. It just goes to show that when you take on one of the absolute best professional poker players in the world, you better come prepared - that means not only a large bankroll and nerves of steel, but a nice clean hanky to wipe away the tears when he's done with you.
