Full Tilt Poker Awards 150 WSOP Seat Over The Weekend
Jun 18, 2008
Full Tilt Poker shook up the online poker community this weekend by replacing its regular $750k GP tournament with a 150-seat guaranteed WSOP satellite event. The exceptional tournament took place Sunday June 15th, Father’s Day, giving dads around the globe a little something extra to smile about.
The online poker room hosted the WSOP Satellite with a direct buy-in of $500+$35, drawing 3,885 entrants and paying the top 150 positions with the $12,000 WSOP Main Event prize package – a total net worth of $1.8 million.
Each $12,000 WSOP prize package awarded covers the $10,000 buy-in to a seat in the 2008 World Series of Poker Main Event in Las Vegas, Nevada, with an extra $2,000 for travel, accommodations and extra spending cash.
Full Tilt Poker was not the only online poker room to have this extraordinary idea. Poker Stars, the only online poker room larger than Full Tilt Poker, hosted a similar WSOP satellite competition, guaranteeing 200 seats in the WSOP. The Poker Stars version replaced its regular PokerStars Sunday Million event and, as is the usual at Poker Stars, saw enough entries to up the guaranteed prize from 200 to 226 seats in the 39th annual World Series of Poker Main event.
