FTOPS VIII Online Poker Event Comes To An End

Full Tilt Poker concluded its massive 24-tournament event this weekend, the eighth Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS VIII) worth more than $10 million guaranteed. More than $5,000,000 was awarded just over the past weekend, including the $2 million guaranteed Main Event.

Friday - FTOPS VIII Events #19 and #20
Full Tilt Pro Rob Hollink hosted Event #19 Friday, a $200 + $16 NL Hold’em with 6-max re-buys. Excessive entries and re-buys upped the $350k GP to $398,800. Full Tilt’s red-lined members Aaron Bartley, Steve Brecher and Lee Watkinson each finished in the bubble, claiming 24th ($1,595.20), 47th ($797.60) and 256th ($319.04) positions, respectively. But in the end, it was “Pot Odds 3” taking down “edub707” for the victory, worth a 1st place prize of $73,379.20.

Event #20, $200 Limit Hold’em with 6-max re-buys and a GP of $200,000, was hosted by Full Tilt Pro Mike Schneider. Not a single red-branded member of Full Tilt finished in the money during Friday’s late tournament. The top prizes went to “mypokerlife”, earning $41,700.00 for defeating “WinHumble”, who took 2nd place and $27,800.00.

Saturday – FTOPS VIII Events #21 and #22
Full Tilt Poker started off the day with Event #21, a two-day $2,500 + $120 NL Hold’em tournament with a GP of $1.5 million, hosted by Full Tilt Pro Phil Ivey himself. Entries from 899 participants significantly trumped the ending prize pool to a whopping $2,247,500. It turned out to be a great event for some of Full Tilt’s red-striped members, taking four places in the prize money. Erich Kollmann nearly made his way to the final table, but finished just shy in 12th position, worth $21,351.25. The next closest was “PearlJammed”, coming in 22nd for $8,765.25. Bruce Buffer finished 30th for $7,641.50, while Thomas Bihl earned 60th place for $5,394.00. The top prize of more than half-a-million ($516,925) went to “Halfrek”, a well known online poker player who also took down Event #11 for $342,495 earlier this week. The 2nd place prize of $325,887.50 went to “JRShaffy”.

Full Tilt Pro Sigi Stickinger was on hand t host FTOPS VIII Event #22, a $100 + $9 PL Omaha with one re-buy, worth a GP of $350k. A field of 939 jumped the prize pool to $370,200. Another good day for red-tagged members of Full Tilt Poker, Nenad Medic finished 20th for $1,443.78, Berry Johnston in 30th for $1,258.68, Ross Boatman in 44th for $1,110.60, followed by Stefan Rapp in in 53rd for $999.54. As the tournament came to a close, it was “theASHMAN103” taking 1st place and $85,146.00 after sending “Frooodo” to the rails in 2nd place, worth $53,679.00.

Sunday - FTOPS VIII Event #23 and #24 (FTOPS Main Event)
Sunday started off with a$500k GP, $240 + $16 NL Hold’em Knockout tournament with 6 max re-buys, hosted by Full Tilt Pro Roland de Wolfe. Full Tilt Poker’s David Pham was the only red-liner to cash in the event, finishing in 235th place for $346.39. As the seats at the final table dwindled down, it was “elheroe” vs. “Panamatony” in heads-up. The 2nd place prize of $78,221.16 went to “Panamatony”, who could not hang on as “elheroe” treaded a path to victory, pocketing the 1st place prize of $124,020.22.

And now, the moment we’ve all been waiting for – drum roll please – the results of the 8th Full Tilt Online Poker Series, hosted by the lovely Full Tilt Pro, Jennifer Harman.

A field of 4,750 entries converged on the $500 + $35 NL Hold’em tournament, guaranteeing a massive $2 million prize pool, escalated to $2,375,000 by the multitude of participants. All told, 648 positions were paid, including three red-branded members of the online poker room – Stuart Patterson, 354th place ($950.00); Andy Bloch, 429th place ($855.00); and Robert Mizrachi, 528th place ($736.25).

Congratulations are in order for all of the top finishers in the FTOPS VIII Main Event, but the highest accolades go to “cheesemonster”, claimed $410,780 the 1st place title after the historic defeat of “MarMoss”, who finished in 2nd place for $249,375.
